After three years of chronic post-operative back pain for a rare condition, I always temper my expectations.
Nevertheless, she was right! Acupuncture treatments seem to disrupt the pain cycle, so that instead of having to lie flat for a day or two until one passes, an acupuncture treatment or two seems to stop the cycle in its tracks. I don't want to raise anyone else's expectations unrealistically, but for me, the treatments have been almost miraculous.

"I had a big vacation coming up and I knew the plane ride would be an issue for me. My back hurt enough that it took over a hour of hobbling around trying to walk off the pain for me to stand and move well at all. Once standing, I couldn't sit without pain. If I sat for 30 minutes my foot went numb and walking again was torture. Sleeping was impossible, I could only sleep in one position and if I turned, it hurt so much I couldn't fall back to sleep. Acupuncture lessened the pain and lengthened the time before the pain would come back. I was able to get off the plane, and I was sleeping better right away after my treatment. I found out that I need to get surgery and am awaiting for my surgery date to be decided. Acupuncture helped my pain level in a big way. It is now 5/10 not the 15/20 that it was. It helped my constipation very quickly. It is much better than laxatives. It has helped me sleep. I can roll onto my back now and I don't wake up as often from the pain.
